Signing a joint cooperation protocol between Cairo University and East London University, to create dual academic degrees in economics and finance, and digital marketing for teaching at Cairo International University

Cairo University, under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Mohamed Elkhosht, President of the University, signed a joint cooperation protocol with the University of East London, to establish dual academic degrees in the fields of economics, finance, and digital marketing for teaching at Cairo International University, within the framework of Cairo University’s strategy. And the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030, Under the guidance of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

 The cooperation agreement includes hosting 19 international programs in cooperation with the University of East London, their headquarters will be the international branch of the university, in the disciplines of economics, accounting, finance, banking, risk management, and digital marketing, in addition to a master’s degree in the fields of cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, and mechanization. And remotely piloted aircraft systems. The program grants an international certificate from the University of East London, and the program is scheduled to begin in September 2024.

 Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, explained that the Ministry’s policy pays great attention to the internationalization of the Egyptian higher education system, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership, expanding international partnerships with institutions with a distinguished reputation globally, raising local educational institutions to the ranks of their international counterparts, and making Egypt a destination in providing  educational services in the Arab region and the African continent.

Dr. Mohamed Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, confirmed that signing this protocol with the University of East London aims to create and develop a group of multidisciplinary programs that meet the needs of the economy, whether the local or the global one, for students’ national and international professional skills and competencies, as it’s considered an episode of Cairo University’s international cooperation, Pointing out that the university is seeking to follow a policy of opening doors and minds, and interacting with diverse educational systems from different civilizations and cultures of the world due to the common areas of ways of thinking between Cairo University and major international universities.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Saeed, Vice President of Cairo University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, said that signing the cooperation protocol with the University of East London is consistent with the university’s strategy and the objectives of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and reflects Cairo University’s keenness to deepen its international role and its continuity in holding partnerships and dual academic degrees to teach at the international branch of the university.

 Dr. Mohamed Al-Attar, Assistant President of Cairo University for the International Branch, provided a detailed explanation to inform the delegation of the Cairo International University project, the capabilities provided with it, and the necessary technological equipment for lecture and conference halls, noting that the International Branch of Cairo University includes 18 study programs, in partnership with prestigious and internationally accredited international universities. Pointing to the efforts made by the university to enhance international cooperation, especially with countries (Japan, China, Germany, France, and others), and to launch modern study programs that meet the needs of the future, such as artificial intelligence, robots, new and renewable energy, and entrepreneurship.

For her part, Professor Amanda Broderick, President of the University of East London, expressed her happiness in moving cooperation with Egyptian universities to a higher level, and signing more partnership agreements with Egyptian universities, noting that the University of East London focuses in the programs it offers on the academic programs that the future needs and prepares graduates to serve the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and providing them with the skills that will make them able to advance and develop their country’s economy.

 Dr. Hassan Abdullah, Academic President of the University of East London, expressed his happiness with this agreement, which represents cooperation in vital study programs for the future, and qualifies students and gives them scientific skills and experiences that qualify them for the local, regional and international labor market, to serve the economy.

 The signing of the cooperation protocol was attended by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Mohamed El-Sharqawi, Assistant Minister for Policies and Economic Affairs, Dr. Sherif Saleh, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, and Dr. Mahmoud Al-Saeed, Vice President of Cairo University for Graduate Studies. and research, Dr. Mohamed Al-Attar, Assistant President of Cairo University for Academic Affairs in the International Branch, Dr. Heba Nouh, Advisor to the President of Cairo University for Administrative Affairs in the International Branch, Dr. Lubna Farid, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Dr. Hanan Hussein, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, and Dr. Heidi Bayoumi, Director of the Office of International Cooperation at the University.
