The Center for Economic and Financial Research and Studies was founded on June 27, 1984, based on the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities as a special unit affiliated to the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.

The center enjoys financial and administrative independence thus provides its services with full transparency and integrity.

Since January 2019, CEFRS has been accredited by the Central Agency for Organization and Administration as one of the specialized training centers at the national level.

The center s role includes the provision of expertise and consultation on various economic and financial issues, as well as the evaluation of economic and social events at the international, regional, and local levels. In addition, the center is concerned with the improvement of basic and advanced soft skills of researchers, students, and administrative staff.

The center is considered a leading expert house in providing academic research regarding current important economic projects, which supports decision makers, as well as the non-governmental organizations, in formulating actions required to solve various economic and social challenges.

By utilizing the latest research tools and advanced economic analysis, the center plays a leading role in providing scientific expertise in the implementation of several important economic projects.
