PROF. OMNEIA AMIN HELMY
Vice-Dean for Post Graduate Studies and Research, and Professor of economics at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS), Cairo University. Dr. Helmy is also a visiting professor at the University of Barcelona, Spain; in addition to her appointment as affiliate professor of economics at George Mason University, USA. Previously she held the position of Acting Executive Director and Director of Research at the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES), and the Director of the Center for Economic and Financial Research and Studies (CEFRS) at FEPS. Dr. Helmy is a member of Egypt’s Scientific Research Academy; the Egyptian Society for Political Economy, Statistics and Legislation and the Arab Society for Economic Research and the Egyptian Center for Global Governance and Development. She is a policy affiliate at the Economic Research Forum (ERF). Dr. Helmy has undertaken several professional activities at various prominent organizations including the World Trade Organization, the World Bank; the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies and the Center for Economic and Financial Research and Studies at Cairo University. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of African Trade. Her areas of interest include international economics, trade policy, institutional economics, pension reform, in addition to macro- and microeconomic analysis. Dr. Helmy earned her Ph.D. in economics from Cairo University.
