B.Sc. in Economics, Faculty of Economics & Political Science, FEPS, Cairo University 1974.
Master and Ph.D. in Macroeconomics, University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne 1984.
She received the state encouragement award in Economics 1996 for two of her published research. She has published extensively on macroeconomics and labor economics both locally and internationally in Arabic, English, and French.
Dr El Khawaga was a member of Shura council from 2001 until 2011.
Currently Dr. El Khawaga is a board member of Central Bank of Egypt as well as the Egyptian banking Institute.
