Dr. Asmaa M. Ezzat is an Associate Professor at the Economics Department in Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS), Cairo University. Asmaa got her Ph.D. in Economics in 2015, with a joint supervision from FEPS and Institute of Law and Economics in Hamburg University. She got her M.A. in Economics in 2011. She also holds a B.A. in Economics from Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. She is now also working as the Director of Governance Center in the National Institute of Governance and Sustainable Development, as well as an Economic Consultant in the Egyptian Competition Authority. She has worked as a researcher, consultant, public finance specialist, and anti-corruption specialist in different research project funded by national and international agencies, such as the European Union (EU), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Egyptian National Council for Competitiveness (ENCC). Asmaa is an affiliate to the EU-Mediterranean and African Network for Economic Studies (EMANES). In 2024, Asmaa has received the State Encouragement Award in the field of economic and legal sciences in the section on the
role of Egyptian institutions in the state of law. Her research interests include institutional economics, development economics, law and economics, economics of corruption and econometrics. She has some international publications on role of institutions and institutional quality.
