I would like to congratulate you on joining the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, the jewel of the prestigious Cairo University. Our faculty started in the academic year 1960/1961, following the path of London School of Economics. Since then, the faculty has been a proven success story, as it is considered one of the most important faculties of social sciences, not only at the national level inside Egypt, but also at the regional and international level.
The faculty’s vision is to be
one of the best colleges in the fields of education,
scientific research, and community service compared
to its counterparts, and if its mission is to
provide the latest educational, research, and
community services, and its motto is commitment,
excellence, and sophistication, then it is no wonder
that college graduates hold the top notch positions;
ministers, ambassadors, university professors,
experts, directors of local and international
organizations, and members of the press and media. Dear students: The college has obtained the following: • Accreditation from the National Authority in 2011/2012, and was renewed in 2016/2017 and then in 2022/2023. • It also obtained two Iso certificates, ISO 9001 for the year 2015 and 21001 for the year 2018. • It ranked second for the Government Excellence Award among more than 450 faculties in Egyptian public universities. If this indicates anything, it indicates that the faculty applies the academic and administrative specifications and standards of international faculties and institutes, furthermore it possesses the capabilities that allow it to carry out its function as an educational institution in an efficient and competent way. Sons and Daughters : The College of Economics and Political Science includes five scientific departments, including three Majors: (Economics - Statistics - and Political Science), and two Minors: (Public Administration and Socio- Computing). At the second level; the student must choose a major, then at the third level, he chooses a minor that must be different from his major. For example: The student may have a major in economics and a minor in public administration. - Or a major in statistics and a minor in socio- computing, - Or a major in political science and a minor in economics, and so on. The college applies the credit hours system, which gives the student more flexibility in choosing the courses that are compatible with his academic inclinations and personal abilities, and also to choose the study load appropriate to his academic abilities. The faculty is keen to prepare a graduate with a high level of competence who will be able to serve the community and compete locally and globally. This is not limited to providing the best educational services and using the latest technological methods only but extends to build and develop the student’s personality through attending seminars, conferences, and workshops. The faculty also encourage involving students in sports and artistic activities, and simulation models (which are models that simulate reality and imitate the work that occurs within national institutions such as the House of Representatives, or regional institutions such as the League of Arab States, or international institutions such as the United Nations).
